Important News for All Bedford Bears Families

The Upcoming 2010-2011 Season

    The 2010-2011 Bedford Bears Hockey season will begin on Thursday September 9th.   The schedule for September will be posted on the web-site www.bedfordbearshockey.com as well as team schedules at the end of August.

    For the upcoming season the Bears will have 2 Squirt, 2 Peewee, 2 Bantam and 1 Midget  U18 team competing in the Hudson Valley Hockey League. The top teams will play A level and the second teams will play B1. New for this year all A level teams (excluding the Midgets) will be state tournament bound. If an A team comes in 1^st or 2^nd place in the HVHL they are required to attend the state tournaments.

  As the result of USA Hockey promoting X-Ice hockey for all players 8 and under, the Hudson Valley Hockey League has decided that the season 2010-11 will be the last one during which  Travel Hockey for 8 year old skaters will be allowed on a full sheet of ice. There will be no league play/championship but organizations are free to play an independent schedule. As such the Bears will be have 1 Mite team.

     Dues for the season will be as follows: Mite Cross Ice -900.00, Mites-1400.00, Squirts-1500.00, Peewees and Bantams-1725.000.00 and Midgets-650.00. Included in this fee is one tournament per team and paid coaches for the Peewees and Bantams. Due to rising ice costs the organization will no longer pay for a 2^nd tournament or end of year parties. The 2^nd payment is due September 10 and the final payment is due November 1.  . If payment is not completed by November your child will not be rostered and thus can’t play.  We will once again kick off the Bedford Bears Hockey at the Haunted Shootout in Marlborough MA from October 22 to October 24, 2010. This is one of the few places that can accommodate all our teams. We have requested no early games on Friday but some teams may play Friday morning. We are staying at the Embassy Suites Hotel. Your coaches will be reaching out to you shortly for reservations.

                               Championship weekend February 26-27, 2011 @ WSA

            NY State Championships March 4^th –March 6^th 2011 in upper state NY (1^st&2^nd place teams)

Bantam Paid Coaches Announced

The Bedford Board finalized the selection of 2010-2011 season paid coaches.

The Bedford Board has completed its selection of paid coaches for the 2010-2011 season. Tim Halewicz will coach the Bantam A team as well as continue as the Director of Hockey Operations.  Tim has been with the program for several years and has made a huge impact on the players he has coached.  Matt is new to the organization and will be joining us this year as one of four paid head coaches.
