Bedford Bears Mite Hockey Program Description

The Bedford Bears Mite Hockey program is designed for boys and girls between the ages of 5-8.  Our program introduces kids to the exciting game of ice hockey and emphasizes skill development, fun, teamwork, sportsmanship and fostering a lifelong love for the game.

Development

Our dedicated USA Hockey certified coaches focus on the fundamental skills of skating, stickhandling, passing, shooting and teamwork through various drills, small area games and scrimmages. Players gradually build their abilities in an inclusive, age appropriate and supportive environment to ensure that all kids can master the basics of hockey at their own pace.

Fun

We believe that enjoyment is key to learning. Our practices are designed to be engaging, competitive and fun to keep players excited and motivated to keep improving. Whether it’s themed practice sessions, fun games or special events, we strive to create positive and memorable experiences both on and off the ice.

Teamwork

Learning to work together is a core component of our sport and our program. Players are encouraged to communicate, support each other and learn the value of cooperation on and off the ice. A team first mindset is achieved through group activities that instill a sense of camaraderie, sportsmanship and respect for all teammates, coaches, opponents, and officials.

Fostering a love for hockey

Our ultimate goal is to ignite a passion for the game that will last a lifetime by creating a supportive and enthusiastic environment where praise and encouragement is always front and center to help young players fall in love with the sport.

6U Details 6U:

• 3 Practices per week (Tue, Sat, Sun) 
• Games supplement Saturday and/or Sunday practices starting mid-December 
• USA Hockey’s American Development Model (ADM)

8U Details 8U:

• 3 Practices per week (Tue, Sat, Sun) 
• 1 to 2 games supplement weekend practices starting in late September 
• USA Hockey’s American Development Model (ADM)
• Full Ice games for 2016 players start January 1st
• 2 to 3 Multi-game Jamborees starting in November through February
• Season culmination at Philadelphia tournament Presidents weekend
